This is my first time trying a recipe in the air fryer and I have to say it is such a game changer. The texture of the tofu is incredible compared to oven-baked. Even if you don't have an air-fryer, you could try this recipe and bake it in the oven a little bit longer. I also made a quick dipping sauce using vegan mayo and sriracha. Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS
1 block extra firm tofu
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
2 tbsp tamari sauce
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika powder
1 tsp veggie broth powder from Organika
STEPS
1. In a medium bowl, mix all the ingredients except the tofu. If the mixture is too thin, add nutritional yeast, if it's too thick, add water.
2. Break the tofu into bite-sized chunks over the bowl.
3. Lightly fold the tofu into the mixture, being careful not to break the tofu too much.
4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
5. Add the tofu to the air-fryer basket and avoid adding extra paste as it could burn. Cook for 15 minutes, stopping halfway to shake the basket.
FOR THE GREEN BEANS
1. In a bowl, mix the washed and trimmed green beans with the juice of half a lemon, 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil and 2 tbsp of nutritional yeast.
2. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
3. Transfer the green beans to the air fryer basket. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes.
